As the sole entrance point into the southern Azmeri mountain holds, Mzar'dun was originally home to the strongest Azmeri warriors whose sole duty was to hold the pass. Sadly, little else is known apart from what remains on the epitaph of the legendary Azmeri swordsman, Laelion, who rests atop the pass.

Centuries after the Azmeri disapeared from the pass, a great thaumaturgist named Mzarius claimed the pass for his own and is for whom the pass was given its namesake. Mzarius settled the caverns within the pass and outfitted them with his laboratory and energy extraction equipment he used in attempt to unlock the secrets of the Virtue Gems. While Mzarius never made any substantial contributions to the study of Virtue Gems, he is credited with making significant advancements in the field of translocation. In fact, one of the earliest known teleportation and portal devices are located at Mzar'dun.

With no successor to his research, Mzarius' death plunged Mzar'dun into a millennium of abandon. It is rumored that Piety of Theopolis spent some time in the mountain in effort to advance her own thaumaturgical experiments, but so few encounters with Piety leave witnesses with their sanity (or their limbs) to merit credibility.

Mzar'dun is now home to a small band of exiles who have repurposed the ancient laboratory as a stronghold to launch their campaign for riches, freedom, and glory...

Author's Note:
Thanks for checking out my hideout! I have spent a long time working on this little project and am thrilled with how it turned out. Every single one of the 743 objects I used was meticulously placed with painstaking precision. I am especially proud of the inside/outside transitions and the feel of the hideout as a whole. I found that the images and even the video don't really do justice to how it feels to move through the hideout, so please send me a tell (OD_Dismember) and come for a visit. Maybe you can find all 7 of the hidden lurking exiles! Thanks again!
