Three in one - coastal hideout
http://youtu.be/FQS95tylZ90
I wanted to build a hideout that shows all three acts of the game in one place. It took me all the way to the cap for decorations to accomplish this. Haku's Coastal Hideout was ideal for this. I started building this around november 2014. The best way to go was to build Act 1 in the lowest region of the hideout. There I started by placing the town area. First I was going to have this area at the mountain side in the west of the area but later I decided that it looked better where it is now. Since there are no tiles for the floor that work in uneven surfaces except the small tiles that Vorici sells, I feared that I might get over the cap for decorations. So I only placed those tiles in half of the town area. Haku and Elreon and the weapons, armor and sockets crafting benches looked just right to be placed here (along with an anvil near the fire), too.

The next area to build was the starting area of the game with the dying exile and zombie corpse at the driftwood stump. Finding the right corpse is not easy, but I think this one fits best. Also I included a crucified corpse and one on a stick to give the feeling of the coast and the tidal island.

Close to that I placed a Rhoa's nest with a tree stump to signify the mud flats. Next is the rocky climb with the swords and the supporter standard leading up to the prison area. On the far left I built a rather gloomy area that stands for the ship graveyard and coves. Initially I also wanted to combine this with the mudflats - hence the trees which still look rather nice now without the Rhoa's nest around.

Through the prison area (the slope was hard to cover with something stony to not have the sand show) you get to the first part of Act 2. The trees and some forest flowers (variation 4) offer a good way of hiding the sand below. Mossy walls line the path.

After this southern forest you get to the town area. Although a little out of place, Alira's kettle makes for a nice centerpiece of this town area. As cover for the ground I used mainly Tora's road segments but wanted to frame the waypoint in a more prominent way. So I used Vorici's slabs again. Also the bowmakers tool can be integrated quite nicely with a cosy rug below it. A tent is also placed here to provide the exiles shelter and offer both stash tabs. South of the town area Catarina get's her very own broken down graveyard with swirling mist, tombstones and all.

Heading out from the town to the west I built a big forest area and included the spider forest. To not have the sand show I used forest flowers again and also put down some Vaal rubble. To get to Act 3 on the highest plateau you have to cross through Vaal ruins which lead directly to a slum area. Again covering the slope was kinda hard, but Vaal rubble and other Vaal stuff get's it done quite nicely.
Spoiler
The slum area also functions as a representation of the market and the town area. Hence Vorici is found up here with some exiles selling wares at a booth.
Spoiler
Northward you can access a kind of temple. In front of it there are some ribbons and blackguards who have obviously been fighting some time ago. The inside of the temple area I covered with carpets from Zana. The centerpiece here is the map device. Which is framed by a bloody shrine signifying the Lunaris temple and some books at the northern side that show a library.
Spoiler
Leaving the temple to the west you get to a garden area with the blessing font in its center. I hope you like my idea. |
