Bookworm's Trove

It was a simple misunderstanding that got me exiled to Wraeclast.

It was like any other day for me - I had spent most of it perusing the aisles of the Grand Library of Theopolis. However, I found an alcove of newly arrived and unsorted books. I quickly skimmed the titles when I noticed an actual copy of Thaumaturgy and the Human Body penned by Maligaro himself! I quickly grabbed it and hit it beneath my robes, sure no one had seen me. I made haste out of the Library and to home. As I walked in and lit a candle I realized some vandals had been in my home! I ran to my office only to see the High Templar himself sitting in my chair, waiting for me.

Even though I greated him ever so graciously, he accused me of sneaking into the restricted section and stealing books. I tried to explain that I certainly had no idea I was in the restricted section and the books were going to be returned as any other from the library. I felt like he might have believed it until I made the mistake of trying to buy his trust by handing him the book I had just taken. How was I supposed to know that was a forbidden book? Next thing I know I'm on a boat to Wraeclast and they wouldn't even let me bring a single book for the journey!

I did what came naturally and made my way as fast as possible to Sarn. The Sarn Archives are legendary! When I got to the library it was swarming with the undead. I thought that the Archives might not have been breached, but it was quickly proven wrong as some frustrating undead ruined them with tornados! I dispatched the monster as fast as possible but it left everything all over the place. I started to sift through the books on the ground when I saw some fog coming up from the base near a bookshelf. I found the hidden mechanism, went down some stairs, and found the chambers of the head archivist of Sarn. The air was stale and there the fog always lingered, but the undead had yet to find this place, and I knew it would be perfect for me to claim as my own.

Some may call me obsessive, but knowledge is power and I will learn every secret Wraeclast has to offer.

Main Hall - I made the mistake of inviting Elreon since he proved to have a wealth of knowledge of Relics. I figured he may know where some books are. Now he simply won't stop berating me and anyone who will listen to him orate.

I don't know how Zana found her way in here, nor do I know where she disappears off to on a regular basis. But her cartography skills are second-to-none and the maps are wonderous. I have been trying to tempt her to write a memoir herself, so she insists on having a ridiculous amount of space for that device of hers.

My personal work area, the only place I try a little bit to keep neat. It can be necessary to gather related materials.

No one has scoured as much of Wraeclast as the hunter Tora. While she focuses on hunting beasts, she has much capability in finding hidden troves all around... so I tried to make her feel welcome in this corner. She puts up with it, at least.

These chairs are the best places to sit back with some light reading. You may notice Vorici in the shadows over in the corner. While he makes me nervous to keep around, he makes quick work of those who I don't want to stumble in on my collection. All he requires in return is whatever useful information I gather on poisons and shadows.

I hate how much space this bed wastes, but I haven't yet discovered how to this weakness of the body that is sleep.

Was writing all of that necessary? No. But my hideout fits my character, and will look very one-note (because it is). I kept trying to write too much and ended up cutting down a lot... so if the introduction doesn't work well, I'm sorry. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my hideout.
The write-up may not be necessary, but it certainly enhances the flavour of the hideout. As you said, it relies heavily on a singular theme, and if you'd just dumped the images they might not have made the same impact without the backstory. Also enjoyed the reasons for each master's presence.

Good stuff.
Agreed with ^

Your story made me love what you did, theme is awesome and it is strait forward, fits in well with the game as a whole. Other hideouts seem to try to cover to many things mash to much together, but this, this is like what I expect a hideout would be for someone exiled to this 'GOD FORSAKEN LAND', SHUT IT ELREON, Ya we're all heathens, ya ya. I told you before, if you yell over me like that you are banished from my research lab. Sorry about that was going to say desolate place. Nice to know someone else values knowledge as much as I do, but I would say you could use an index or organization system of a sort.
.... I knew a professor who had an office like this (apparently for decades - the fire department/safety guys had pretty much given up at some point) but always knew where a book or a paper was. :-D
Also, a quiet booklover's high-five :-)
