Health regen for minion life support jewel

I have played a of of summoners. In my experience, I never use Minion life as a summoner because I generally have enough minion life from tree that I don't need it and find damage supports far more appealing. If I try to make a character that deals most of my own damage but wants to use summon for support, I usually give up because they are always dead, even with a life support jewel. If the minion life jewel added a small amount of regen it might make using a summon for support rather than primary focus more appealing and would also make golems much more fun. I don't know about others, but I despise having to re-summon my golem after every 2-3 fights. I end up putting it on cast when damage taken most of the time. But even a small amount regen would keep it topped off between fights and would not make it super powerful.

Just a thought.

The minion life gem
The minion speed gem
and The minion totem elemental resist gem

are bridge gems for leveling summoners and for non summoners who want a half functional minion.

dedicated summoners are not supposed to use these gems

they are designed such that they are more potent the less investment you have. therefore they are kinda niche on purpose.

I wont pretend to like the current state of minions but that is atleast what the main use of those gems is

@salty

I think he is talking about using golems as non summoner builds for the bonuses. Its true I've almost given up on using them completely on builds because they simply don't survive that well.

Remove MF from POE, make juiced map the new MF.

I know, I am just saying what he is trying to get out of them is a little out of scope for what they are supposed to do.

Those gems are basically supposed to provide stats you would normally just get from the passive tree.

They arent supposed to be a total solution to anything. The op wants minion life to solve his golem sustain issue.. which is something i sympathize with, but again.. not the purpose of the minion life gem.

now you could make the case that minions probably should have some form of implicit sustain. it is rather awkward that so many mandatory things for them are locked behind very specific nodes on the tree or specific items .

I mean there was a time when minion speed gem only gave movement speed, now it gives attack and cast speed.

What about minion and totem elemental resistances, they now give 20% ele damage or something like that.

I actually don't see an issue with minion life providing life regen as well. At least that gives people an option and might help (even slightly) with the zombie issue I was talking about before.

So you want a powerful minion with little investment?
Or you want a powerful minion with no investment?

How about we give spellscaster a gem where after 5 spells they get a 1k MORE melee power for 10 seconds?
For melee we give them 20 spells after killing 6mobs with melee skill.
No investment or nothing just those 2 gems.

yes very good idea!
some base regen on golems atleast. failing that the life regen jewel or gem you suggested would be sweet. but what do i know. if we are the believe the poster above me everything in the game will be broken.

If you want your minion(s) to have more life using that gem (which is probably not used much), that one gem slot is actually a pretty difficult thing to find space for with many builds.

I think some regen on the minion life support would be a very good addition for the few people that would use it, and would hurt nothing.

I've taken the minion regen node for 1 point in templar for the exact reason the OP said.

I think Lvl 1: 1.0% minion life regen per second, scaling to Lvl 20: 3.0% minion life per second would be a good addition to the gem.

I think life regen on Minion Life Support gem isnt overpowered and agreed that it would allow an alternative setup rather than using a golem for a codt setup.

My experience as a summoner is I never use Minion Life support.

Also, minion life is currently useless because empower lvl 3 gives nearly equivalent life with dps too.
