Whaaaaaaaaaaaatttttt - Cast When Stunned
Greetings all,
This is my first build guide and it was a blast playing this odd character during the race so I wanted to share. Before you wonder about how this works and viability let me assure you it was built for fun first and foremost. End game content was not a thought at all. Just getting to where I could map with minimal gear cost and switch out to a righteous fire build later. Build Premise: Cast When Stunned support gem has a crazy quick cooldown speed at 250ms. So the thought is how do I leverage this in a high life build that's really tanky. Videos: Note: I've never made one before so please take it easy on me. Gameplay As you see in the video, it clears mobs quickly but takes some time with bosses that do not hit often enough to trigger the casts. Required Gear:
Spoiler
Valyrium Yes, once you hit 38th level the fun can begin. By swapping out your life total for a nearly non-existent energy shield as your stun threshold, you too can be stunned all the time! I know everyone is thinking that being stunned is a bad thing. In this case with endurance charges, life regen, and lots of armor it's actually worse for those hitting you. Priority Mods for Gear: In order you want the following: 1> Life 2> Strength 3> Armor 4> Res/move/filler Good Gear for later on:
Spoiler
Doon Cuebiyari The level 30 Iron Will makes this an amazing 4 link for any spell that is cast when stunned or put into it. The strength boost is also a great thing here. Skill Tree at 89th:
Spoiler
The premise is to build out life regen, life, and armor as quickly as you can for that tanky feel. I took diamond skin for helping with resistances early on and spec'd out of it later. Also don't be afraid to take the +30 nodes for Dex/Int as this build needs them early and can spec out later. Once you get to the outer wheel head for the gladiator to pickup insane life regen nodes. After that head to the templar starting area and past for elemental overload stopping along the way for armor and life regen as you get to it. The last part should be heading toward the shaper node and the Scion life wheel. Skill Tree Skill Gems:
Spoiler
Primary Skills:
3 linked anywhere you can fit them Shield charge-Leap Attack-Fortify Support Since you will be getting stunned all the time movement skills should be priority. If you have a 4th linked green socket available then faster attack is a great add. Misc auras: Vitality/Determination as needed Purity of Elements as needed I'm currently running Vitality, Purity of Ice, and Purity of Lightning. Purity of Ice is with my Shield Charge. Golem: Stone Golem is your buddy through this journey. Treat him well. I gave mine Minion life support, fortify support, and minion and totem elemental resistance support. Now on to the meat and potatoes of the build. I run 4 Cast When Stunned(CWS) for this most with Iron Will(IW). CWS-IW-Firestorm-Inc Dur CSW-Elemental Weakness-Vitality CWS-Fireball-Essence Drain (Doon Cuebiyari for level 30 iron will) Body Armor 5-linked for me from a drop early: CWS-IW-Cold Snap-Vortex-Frost Bomb Any spells can be used here as needed. With 50% of Physical converted to fire, Blade Fall and Blade Vortex make for good spells as well. Potions: Granite Flask and Quicksilver Flask are the only non-life flasks I ran. I had immunity to bleeding and freezing on those two. The remainder of flasks were life flasks. Note: Immunity to freezing is pointless. You can still use potions while frozen and get stunned. God Powers: Any you want. I'm running these: Major: Soul of Arakaali Minor: Soul of Shakari That concludes the guide. I hope you enjoy and above all else have fun! New game play video of Estuary map tier 9.
Estuary Please pay attention to things that attack at range as my spells go off on them without any need to target. You can mostly go AFK in map without concern. I'm toying with removing the buffs for my golem and making him cast when stunned also. This would free up space to add another damaging spell into the mix. I will be playing this build again in 3.4 as a Juggernaut. The ring currently costs around 1 Alch - 2 Chaos so it is not an expensive build to get into. |

Here's the pastebin/PoB link to the current Juggernaut build. It's working much better than the chieftain did. Gear is still meh working towards putting on repentance for global iron will. It does fairly well delving so far.

Thanks for sharing your build !
Its really funny. Used my old witch to try this out. (Aljoschka in my profil) Ascendancy Elementalist, for more fun and a bit life leech..currently I run maps up to tier 6 and the killspeed is really good. I tried to use repentance gloves but figured out its better without. Int requirements are too high. I use mostly Fireball in my CWS setups for heavy dmg and less effects (this build needs alot of gpu power^^) Another CWS setup is Arc. I dont know how much it shocks but it should be a nice dmg boost. Can be linked with innvervate for more shock chance. Molten Shell is really good too with CWS! I just got my jugger to complete palace(tier 14) deathless with current build at level 91. It's still a blast to play. Juggernaut is definitely a better choice for this than chieftain was.
I do have repentance gloves on now. :-) The free iron will is really nice. The GPU test is really dependent upon what you socket in. My current spell setup doesn't tax my GPU at all. I do like the idea of Molten Shell for more tankiness and damage. Also thanks for the feedback and I am glad you are also enjoying it! Here's the PoB latest at level 91: https://pastebin.com/960GrKWq |
