Help with theorycrafting a SmiteZerker

So I'm trying to build a Smite Berserker and I have no idea what weapon to use. No unique items synergize very well with it (other than high phys damage uniques like Hegemony's and Brain Rattler). Looking at the passive tree, there aren't any notables or clusters that synergize better with any one weapon type. However, staves can roll "Gain #% phys damage as Extra Lightning Damage". What would you recommend? Should I put this build on the back burner until I can pull a 500+DPS two-handed weapon and then build from there?
