[Known] - APS vs DPS

First off:
The reason this (slightly long) thread is that I was fighting with a duelist but with slow weapons. And because my accuracy wasn't that high either I though about getting some claws to get a higher attack speed to make it a bit more fun to play. Problem was that they were at (approx) the same attack speed as my sword so that was kind of a bummer... Now I gathered some numbers of the site, put them in an Excel file and compared the types. Here is what I found:

About APS (Attack per Second):
I found that the aps of light weapons is lower relative to heavier weapons. Here is a summary of the average attack speed for each type of weapon.

Spoiler
Staff: 1.108
Two hand Mace: 1.147
Two hand Axe: 1.174
One hand Mace: 1.198
Two hand Sword: 1.208
Sceptre: 1.248
Wand: 1.263
One hand Axe: 1.264
Bow: 1.275
Claw: 1.323
Dagger: 1.359
One hand Sword: 1.375
Thrusting one hand Sword: 1.480
It's clear that the Thrusting one hand Sword is the fastest in attack speed, but the Claw (which should be a lighter weapon) is only the 4th fastest weapon even behind the One hand Sword. That seems a bit odd. Their penalty of attack speed should not be this high. At least not higher than the one hand sword.
I must say that I do not know the skill tree of the duelist, so it could be that he has lots of +aps skills, but even then it's odd.

Now DPS vs APS:
Those 2 don't seem to be consistent either. Here are the dps of the weapons:

Spoiler
Wand: 55.19
Dagger: 83.23
Bow: 84.50
Sceptre: 84.64
One hand Mace: 85.23
One hand Sword: 85.23
Claw: 86.95
Thrusting one hand Sword: 87.68
One hand Axe: 96.41
Two hand Mace: 129.53
Two hand Sword: 129.53
Staff: 130.84
Two hand Axe: 146.47
The wand has the least damage output (which is obvious) and all 2 handed weapons are the most damaging. But if you compare it with the attack speed you see that the two hand mace has the least damage output of the two handed weapons AND it has the slowest attack speed. You can figure other inconsistencies by yourself :)
(Thrusting one hand Sword, Sceptre seems useless such as One hand Mace, ...)

Best Weapon: APS vs DPS
Also, here are charts of the best weapon of each type. Consistency keeps lacking.

Spoiler
Staff: 1.20
One Hand Axe: 1.25
Two Hand Mace: 1.25
Two Hand Axe: 1.25
One Hand Mace: 1.30
Two Hand Sword: 1.30
Bow: 1.40
Sceptre: 1.40
Wand: 1.50
Claw: 1.50
Dagger: 1.60
One Hand Sword: 1.60
Thrusting One Hand Sword: 1.70

Wand: 84
Bow: 128
One Hand Mace: 129
Sceptre: 129
Claw: 129
Dagger: 129
One Hand Sword: 129
Thrusting One Hand Sword: 129
One Hand Axe: 149
Staff: 194
Two Hand Mace: 194
Two Hand Sword: 194
Two Hand Axe: 214
Look (again) at Thrusting one hand Sword, for the two handed weapons to Two hand Axe, Claw and Dagger, one Hand Axe, ...

A few notes!
1) No you're not right: dps does indeed include aps, but a low aps and high dps means your single hits are very powerful, this means lots of overkill and lots of damage you lose.
Suppose 100 dmg is a lot and the enemy has 1 hp left, you do not deal the 99 dmg for the hit on that enemy. If you only deal 5 dmg you only lose 4 hp, making a faster weapon more efficient.
2) I do not know about magic find (which items are more rare than others), and I do not know what unique items there are or will be for these items. If those uniques or very rare items cover all this, all above can be forgotten. However, for lower levels it's still not consistent.
3) I do not mind the difference between the items, only for daggers and claws I do. They should be on the very top of ats.
4) Feel free to answer. You do not have to answer on everything I said ;)

Keep in mind that the armour stat in this game doesn't provide a constant, linear increase in damage reduction. Rather, high damage hits are reduced by a lower percentage than low damage hits. This gives slow, hard-hitting weapons an an inherent sort of "armour piercing" advantage over faster, lighter ones. That may go some way toward overcoming the disadvantage of "overkill".

Having said that I have zero idea how much armour monsters tend to have, and thus how relevant it is in practice.

afaik skills don't change MP requirements based on your aspd. So a slower buy heavier hitter would burn through less MP compared to a fast by weak hitter.

Weapons also have an additional property, so while scepters don't deal a ton of damage, they increase elemental damage that should help with spells and certain attacks. 1h piercing swords increased crit by 20% while daggers increase it by 40%, etc. You can't really nail down the comparison until you factor these in.
Right, I knew I didn't know everything. I did see the formula somewhere, but I didn't look at it thoroughly. And indeed forgot that some weapons have standard abilities.
I suspect the developers then have balanced these so I'll mark this thread.
Thanks for the input!

Why would you compare APS vs DPS?
Apples and oranges.
