Treasure Hunter Weapon Effect Microtransaction

I got the golden treasure hunter weapon effect from a loot box. The effect is really great and I like the direction of the new MTX.

The problem is that it takes the main spot for weapon effect and does not seem to change the weapon look at all.

I assume this MTX could be a 2nd weapon effect like the "Extra Gore Weapon Effect", is this intended ?
