Has ebay always been a rip off?

I dont use it much only have 20 buys in my life...prefer Amazon Prime... anyways sold my first thing, a old watch for $1500 and they kept like $200. Of course I didn't look at fees prior...couldn't imagine such a rake so what for - Ive been at live auctions for heavy equipment with many personnel and pro auctioneer with only 10% rake. Ebay all computerized and seller must do the work of data entry which is a pain and ebay higher. I cant see selling shit there again. How they grow so high with exorbitant fees like this?
