Just read the moon is 4.5 Billion years old.

If that is in fact the case, then it means light from the moon takes 4.5 Billion light years to reach us here on earth, since a light year is the distance light travels in one year, and nothing in the universe can travel faster than the speed of light. Except dark energy.

So I was just wondering, what we see in the sky, when we look at the moon, is basically the moon as it was 4.5 Billion years ago. So for all we know moon could have been destroyed, but we don't know. Right?

There's a significant mistake in your understanding of this.

The moon is far far far closer than 4.5 billion light years away. For us to be seeing 4.5 billion year old light from it it would need to be that far away.

In fact its only give or take a quarter of a million MILES away or roughly a second and a quarter in travel time for the rays of light*. A tiny fraction of a light year.

the age of the moon and its distance from earth are not the same thing. Can you imagine what an amazing coincidence that would be?

I'm trying to help you without the typical snarky toxic attitude people often have on the internet. Its always wonderful to see people learn from science but you always have to vet things you read on a wiki (which is a publicly edited resource not a peer reviewed science journal or textboox). if the wiki says the moon is 4.5 billion light years in distance from the earth its probably been accidentally typoed or perhaps deliberately vandalized, both of which are common on wiki's.
