Here's your AH fix, from 28 years ago...
Ultima Online, old as shit and still going. They had it right a long time ago.

Many games since have had auction houses. For some, like BDO or WoW (which both are MMORPGs btw) it makes sense. Recent examples from other ARPGs like D3 and now LE show how bad it can be for a player economy. This isn't the "gotcha" you think it is

It's vendors. it's not AH. PoE 2 will have instant buyouts. follow the news, watch streamers, buy supporter packs.
PS And stop asking to make a trade sim isntead of the game. EVE Online and my job is more than enough. We want to kill monsters and get rewarded for killing monsters, not fking playing market sitting in hideouts. Last edited by cursorTarget on Apr 5, 2024, 3:04:23 PM

Yeah, poor titling, but the concept is the same. Set up your vendor, pay your vendor daily for selling your stuff. Whether it's an AH, vendor, direct mail or anything allowing for instant buyout, the system works.
As for reading the news, yeah, instant buyout is mentioned. Lots of things are mentioned. Doesn't mean it's going to be good, or even happen for that matter. Art, regarding the economy, I don't give a hoot about the economy. As long as I'm getting more via player buyout than I would from a vendor I'm good with it. I get to spend more uninterrupted time finding more worthless shit to sell that way. I poop, therefore I am.

Yeah, you would have to forego all concerns about the health of a player-driven economy to be in favor of an AH in PoE. You‘ll have your will in PoE2 to a degree at least, so that‘s a positive note to end on at least
