Cosmic Turtle Hideout - My Cosmic Donut
Hi all !
Sorry in advance for any mistakes, english isn't my native language. My guild's lads told me to showcase my humble hideout here after putting it in the hideoutshowcase website for all to see. It is my first/from scratch hideout, and took me about 35/40 hours to make. The goal was to build a real home for me, with specialised rooms for the league mechanics i was fond of, and to have a place where friends and tradies could come and relax. It has still a lot to go in my mind, i feel that's some room have too much clutter, but that's also how i think my hideout would really be if i lived in Wraeclast. (Well, tbh i think i would have drowned on the beach.) I'm looking forward to any advices or input from the community, some of the hideouts i've seen are so beautiful and thought-after that i feel like a ugly duckling posting this, but here we go =) Showcase link :https://hideoutshowcase.com/hideout/show/6386/title/Cosmic%20Donut ---------------------------------The Cosmic Donut by Daddy Beignet--------------------------------- - "Waypoint Alley" The waypoint was made to look like some sort of "back alley" linking some of the rooms together. The Waypoint Alley showcase also a shrine to the Goddess of Justice, cogs and levers. Having started POE in hardcore, kinda blind, the Labyrinth was one of those experience that molded my love to POE. Loved to Hate it, and now can Zoom-Zoom in and out of it. Practice makes perfect. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "Syndicate Heist Room" The first entrance from the back alley to the right, is the one i'm most fond of. being an absolute Heist geek, Jun is also at home here, in between books and artifacs from the Syndicate. This room was the start and reason for this hideout/project. My love for the Heist league/story/characters/banter/atmosphere/music... and gameplay push me to make a room out of it, and took me the most time also to make. The idea was to make a messy study room, lots of books, parchments, scrolls, artifacts, like those Indiana-Jones movies or Daniel Jackson's study in SG-1, A way to show that heist required studying the target, taking notes, planning... I had almost no knowledge about hideouts/items/shortcut/layout so what started as a painfull experience to put everything in place became a learning experience and nourished my new found passion for hideout building. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "The Forge" Central to the Cosmic Hideout, The Forge kinda placed itself here on it's own due to the size of the asset. The goal here was to make a little courtyard linking the back alley to the main chest room, to capitalize on the walls and arches too. I wanted to use the steamchords rune assets for each arches, that way i could know when people came and went and kinda know where they were... or just spam a chord to piss them off :D The Forge became the medallion that everything revolved around, and pushed me to continue the project It's also the home to Rog the Dealer, because even if Expedition got it's own room... What better place for a dealer than a backalley? " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "Delving to the depth" Located in the Cosmic Donut's backalley, is the Delve entranceway where Niko's have his little depot linking my home to his depths via Elevator and Crane to exchange and safely transfert what we find together. Being quite new to POE (only started in January), and as said above, started in Hardcore, i only tiptoed in the darkness, and still have nightmares about what lurks around... Maybe one day the riches that the depths offers outbid my fear of the dark... " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "The Courtyard's Gardens" Home to Einhar & Sister Cassia, the garden is organically divided by bamboo dividers, a bamboo path allowing us to go from one side to the other, above the lush grass, plants and forest flowers. On the left is Sister Cassia outdoor's laboratory and Horticrafting Station, illuminated by Sulphite lights and the Stars themselves, She is surrounded by laboratory apparatus, flasks, alembics and copper vats needed for horticrafting shenannigans. " On the right is Einhar, reading his bestiary notes. He's made a little menagerie in the gardens, with throughs filled to the brim of various pumpkins and other vegetables for his captive beasts. Standing proudly on his altar in front of hunted Rhoa tied upside down, he brought also with him a wagon housing a Whitemauler, various cages and tools needed for our hunt. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "The Kalguur Pathway" Probably my least "favorite" room due to lack of knowledge and asset about this league, needing either an entire rework or makeover to better tribute this mechanic and its characters. This room is a simple pathway to a Kalguur Ancestral portal atop of a synthesis light bridge into the void. Here, Gwennen, Dannig, and Tujen guard our expedition locker, armor, and weapons, surrounded by overgrown mosaic walls and arches that nature is slowly taking over. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "The Godslayer's Hall" Showcasing the treasures and riches collected in my hardcore journey is the Godslayer's Hall, where tradies & friends alike come to trade, discuss, and banter on our adventures. Chests so full, the treasures lays on the ground, as if they didn't matter.. In this room wealth is present, but not revered, This is just another tool for my journey... Once i'm facing death, no currency will save me. Nice flex tho. Here Alva, Helena and Lilly are guarding each arches, and keeping an eye on the goods... You don't want to mess with them gals. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "Arimor's Graveyard" Probably the second room that took me the most time to set up, is Arimor's little grim courtyard, a narrow and decrepit graveyard. An homage to certain death that hardcore promise every one of us, here the Undertaker Arimor is humbly praying to Oriath and Innocence shrines, surrounded by candle's rows. Behind him is his Necropolis Locker, that he managed to install in between the bone display and tombstones of the fallens. Weathered skull piles, pooling blood from Arimor's rituals, a grim reminder that death is omnipresent and needed in my journey toward Divinity. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "The Atzoatl Portal" Sequel to marvel's cinematic Multiverse, i present you MAPS ! Here, in the humble little green-patched little garden, is Commander Kirac waiting for me to finally do maps instead of fucking around 90% of my time in Heists. The Atzoatl map device also serves as a hat for the turtle when not in use. Gotta protec my house head from galaxy/sun burns. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - "Nature's Path" A long time ago this alley showcased Statues of Gods, Heroes, Colossus from all of Wraeclast. All of them being taken over by the most powerfull force of them all... Time. This decrepit and humble overgrown alley that nature has retaken serve as a reminder, that on my journey to Divinity, time is everything... And i should stop playing tonight/this weekend and take my kids to the park, instead of teaching them how to farm currencies for my character. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm really looking forward your feedback on my first project, any insights and critics are welcomed !
