I cant have more than 3 sockets on armor?

New player here.
Just found a Cloak of Flame, tried adding more sockets (went from 2 to 3) but now game says maximum reached? I checked trade center and there are some even with 6 sockets. Could someone ELI5 the issue please? Last bumped on Aug 3, 2024, 10:47:06 PM

Its to low if an item level for 6 sockets. However you can force 6 sockets with the crafting bench 6 socket craft. But that wont come for awhile. When you find the 4 socket craft you can force 4 sockets for 10 jewelers orbs.

You need level 50 for 6 sockets natural rolls.
