One of my workers is "locked" and I cannot release them

Hey one of the workers was slain in the atlas and for some reason I cannot release them or hire someone new instead. It says that they're "locked" as seen in the image :
It's been like this for a couple of days and nothing has changed. Even upgrading the town a level. If anyone has any idea and/or solution as to what to do, please share!
