Linked account to steam and Character is missing

Recently started playing the game again after many years of not playing. Still fairly new to it all with sub 100 hours. I linked my steam account to this account and now my character is missing. Is there a way to unlink the accounts and get my character back? I have sent an email to support but looks like this might be a faster method.
