POE2 Cross Play PS5 and Steam Account Merge?

I have a PlayStation based POE account and a PC Steam based POE account. On each I have spent a good amount of money in microtransactions. I have heard that POE2 will offer crossplay. This means I would like to unify my accounts. Can you explain if and how that can be accomplished? Also how will those of us that log in via steam take advantage of the crossplay from a PS5?
