Can't get 4 sockets on Gloves. Doedre's Tenure

How come the game won't let me craft 4 sockets on my Doedre's Tenure gloves? When I try using a jeweller's on it, it tells me it's at max.

Mine is ilevel21. I've seen plenty of the same unique on the trade site with equal or less ilevel have 4 sockets (and plenty of non-unique gloves too). So what's the deal? I also think this is a kinda scummy feature because of trade implications. I can sell these gloves and the buyer won't know they are locked at 3 sockets. My buddy also tried crafting on them, and didn't work for him either.

Items have a limit on how many sockets they can have based on their ilevel. You can't get more than that number of sockets on a dropped item or from using Jeweller's orbs.

The ilevel limit is ignored when using the Crafting Bench in your hideout to craft sockets. The 4-socket recipe is available from either Kaom's or Daresso's areas in act 4, I don't recall which.

Rares you see might've had an Orb of Binding used on them.

Sockets have ilvl restrictions.

You can bypass these restrictions by using the crafting bench.
