Trade is the biggest friction in the game.

Coming from a long term Path 1 player, the best addition to Path 1 was the currency exchange, it made me wanna actually engage in farming and using all of my currency.
Trading for items on the other hand, makes me want to quit the game. Messaging 12 people for a unique and getting 0 replies, searching for a rare and finding 3 good ones but noone responds, its so frustrating id rather trading for items not be an option at all instead of the current system. I hope item trading gets a treatment similar to what currency trading got. Last bumped on Jan 8, 2025, 1:53:42 PM

I didn't even really play PoE1 and I 100% feel the same/agree. The system as it is, is beyond frustrating and makes me just want to stop playing.
There needs to be a wipe, there needs to be a massive increase in drops of crafting items, and we need to be allowed to make our own items. Last edited by NeoCyrus#3728 on Jan 5, 2025, 10:47:12 AM

Trade shouldn't be too easy, that friction is what keeps people playing

"I'll be honest that hasn't been my experience at all, trade has time and time again been what stops me from playing more. In settlers with the introduction of the currency exchange, it was the first league where i enjoyed farming, cause i could convert my currency without having to resort to bulk selling on tft or having to trudge through the site currency trade. And i just dont see how messaging 20 people for a common unique, and getting 0 replies is keeping me playing, it inflates my playtime for sure, but it also leads to me quitting the leauge earlier than i wouldve otherwise. |

Trade is maddening right now. It's a gacha but worse - will someone even reply to you? who even knows!
Pinging 30 people to get a single item - which might not even be the thing you were looking for, it's just that the only person who replies is the closet match - is no fun. |

" That's literally GGG's design goal for trading, according to Jonathan. So they succeeded is what you're saying? 😁 |

fun keeps me playing, not friction. friction makes me stop after completing one character instead of starting a 2nd. POE has had unnatural unfun friction for far too long.

100% agree with OP here. I love it when some blokes who defend this system, say you did not try hard enough, like 12 times is too little. Personally if i message 10 people and don't get an answer it's a reason to close the game. Any more than that and i would be the clown from the meme.

This post from a guy who has played on both servers lays it out really well. PoE tencent servers have instant trade
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3669128 I would agree that the currency exchange has made a huge difference for me as well. Previously I just let extra scarabs and all sorts of currency sit in my tab because it wasn’t worth the effort to sell. Now I can throw a bunch of cheap scarabs up before bed and hopefully login the next day with some extra chaos. |
