Recommendations towards the Atlas system.
First of all, I want to mention that the current Atlas/mapping system has the potential to become a very interesting way of mapping.
Here are a few additions that I could see to the Atlas that may fix current issues and even turn some of the less loved mechanics into strong features of endgame mapping: - A mapping water biome/port systems that grants easier access to insular mapping nodes. - A greater amount of unique maps that affects the mapping system in unusual ways suchas: - Wormholes that permit travelling far from the starting location - Rare biomes with unique maps and a set loot-table (i.e. mapbound/bossbound unique drops - Atlas topography changes giving ways to Legacy PoE leagues such as delving mechanics - The introduction of basic and/or rare currencies that allows modification to the Atlas, suchas: - Connecting nodes (orb of connection) - Installing makeshift, weaker towers on completed maps - Increasing the radius of completed towers - Giving a way to choose favored biome maps so that we can see them more often in said biomes To conclude, I think that this present Atlas mapping system has the potential to become an most-welcomed canvas towards endgame mapping systems in ARPGs.
