What does Local Knowledge (Atlas Skills) do?

What actually does this node do?

(1) Each biome listed in the node gets additional bonus chance of dropping the corresponding things; or

(2) Each biome listed has its loot table skewed so other types of things drop less while the listed thing drops more?

I feel that if it was (1), then it could be a nice node for bonus loot; but if it was (2), then it is essentially a wasted point as you are getting the same things just in different order as you move through the nodes of various biomes.

I guess this is as much a question as feedback. If it is (2), then I really hope it gets changed to (1).

It's probably 2, because otherwise it would be extremely OP.

Hm. So it is essentially a target-farming feature for people in the very late game, as opposed to early endgame when we're short on all of those things.

I guess that makes sense.

It can be good early on too, to find greater jewelers and Baryas

Knowing GGG a bit I'd say it's 1, the wording would be different if it was 2.

Is there any official clarification on this yet? I find a lot of people saying it is 2) but it seems to be no more than a feeling.
