Can't believe poe2 works really fine on my Mac
Although poe2 does not officially support Mac/Linux yet. I still managed to run it on Mac through the wine which means it is also possible get it run on the Linux.
![]() Hard to believe the performance of the game is quite good. Is totally playable even under 2K resolution(with the lowest graphic setting). For some reason, the end game map have really low performance. ![]() For real game, the fps is working at 40 or so. The fps will significantly drop if you first time meet some map or monster due to the shader compile. idk if there is a way to prebuild all shader in advance. ![]() The system load of the game is quite heavy (for Mac). It almost take 9GB of memory and for some strange reason it run maximum on the e-core rather than p-core. The frame should be better if it can distribute more work load on the p-core. And the for the fps problem, it should be better if you run the game under the Liunx with gaming graphic card. Beside, the M4 cpu is arm64 architecture, is gaming is running using wine on the Mac, the total process is running through the Rosetta2(the tool which translate the x86 instruction to arm64), the preformance is accpetable. ![]() I will try some other config on the wine and see if I can improve the game fps. UPDATE:
Using DX12 in the setting will siginificantly solve the frame drop problem. DO NOT USE VULKAN. In the beginning I thought the vulkan might be the best choice. After all it is cross platform and it should work better than DX12 on the Mac. After I try the DX12, the shader complie problem I mentioned before has been solved. Although sometimes it still have frame drop when compile the shader. The fps of game is much better. I can even start the breach on the T15 map and successful complete the map. |

I may have missed it, but what M series config are you using?
I’m strongly considering a Mac M4 laptop. I’m torn between an M4 pro 48gb and upgrading to 1tb storage, or just going for the M4 max fully loaded. It seems kind of silly to only have 48gb at the highest spec machine… so it makes me want to get 64gb on that, but then I’m spending like 4grand on a laptop. 💀 TBH it’s just a toy for me, so I really hope that the M4 pro is enough to game on, but I kind of doubt it. I should just wait for the M5 and get an old Mac for now. Last edited by quietBead#9301 on Feb 6, 2025, 2:53:53 PM

Did you get loot filter working?

" You can add loot filters from the POE account page and they will be in the drop down when you log in. Just make sure they are POE2 loot filters. Last edited by kcthebrewer#1298 on Feb 8, 2025, 12:03:21 PM
