POE2 is, in fact, POE1 Without all the content on Ruthless. Change my Mind.
I have been in some debates on these forums and constantly hear from the fans (who have mostly never played POE1) that, "POE2 is a new game not meant for the audience of POE1." But it really isn't. They also say "well just go play POE1, they are supporting both," but they aren't anymore as they admitted yesterday. I will state why I think POE2 is a BAD copy paste of POE1 then you can answer my challenges at the bottom.
The only things new in POE2 that are not in POE1 are the gem cutting system (which I hate) and new graphics. The rest is copy paste but they pasted it with the "mess up a perfectly good system" option turned on in their editor. "But Kraythax, what about the new endless map system?" Delve reworked and screwed up. Instead of having a direction (going deep) they have no direction, no goals to get. In delve you find cities (towers) and bosses. The deepest delvers are some of the best POE1 builds. Delve with maps for nodes would at least be interesting. "I got to level 200" the bragging rights would be. "And the new skills?" Very FEW of them are really new. 90% can be found either identically in POE1 or with another name. What is more, POE1 has a LOT more skills and more fun synergies to explore. "Well they did build the new campaign." Principally it is identical to the POE1 campaign with some name changes and some minor story changes but instead of improving the campaign, which is so boring it is referred to as the tutorial, they made it LONGER and MORE TEDIOUS. "Well they have the endgame with the waystones!" They are often called "maps" by POE2 players because they are maps. Well bad versions of maps. In POE1 we can juice the map like a waystone but we can also control that delirium or blight will always be on the map via the atlas tree or scarabs so the POE2 endgame is POE1 endgame ... 8 years ago. The endgame(s) plural because there are 2, in POE1 are much deeper and well thought out. There is Delve to go deep and the quest to kill maven, shaper and Searing exarch. On the way you can do a dozen different kinds of side content. In POE2 they only COPIED over Delirium, Breach and Expedition. "Well the ascendancy challenges are new" Not new, Known as Sanctum and Ultimatum in POE1. Two league mechanics that everyone hates (at least everyone i have talked to.) They offer a caster a 2h mace and a warrior a wand, being completely RNG and they arent even uniques. They are pure vendor bait. Then they took out the Labrynth which was much better because ... wait for it ... YOU COULD ACTUALLY GET ALL 4 ASCENDANCY POINTS WITHOUT AN RNG MIRACLE. "Well at least they got rid of the zoomer builds!" Uhh no. Look up youtube videos on the top tier builds. They clear 3 screens away, often without touching any button. And if you try to play a build that doesnt do that the game eats you alive because you NEED a build like that to survive these maps. "But the bosses are harder!" Well in the campaign there were some interesting bosses but after I played them 10 times I defeated them even on gimped warrior. There are some interesting bosses in POE1 as well such as Innocence. But the reality is the first guy that got toe Xesh in POE2 one shotted him practically. Occasionally someone will get a build to trivialize Maven but its pretty rare and there are other bosses that you have to think to beat in POE1. Usually most people in POE1 have to work to kill these two. In the process GGG has left out a dozen mechanics and screwed up others (its possible to roll a life based build in POE1) I am guessing they are going to sell back to gullible customers (relax, I am one, I bought the $480 supporter pack because I believed, past tense, in GGG). So I offer three challenges. 1. Try and change my mind. Tell me how POE2 is innovative in any way. 2. Play POE1 through Maps. Settlers league is one of the most newbie friendly leagues and everything is now cheap to buy. A little empty since GGG told every POE1 player to pound sand yesterday but still some people playing it. 3. Now go play a ruthless char through Act 5. Tell me which game is more ruthless. "They also say "well just go play POE1, they are supporting both," but they aren't anymore as they admitted yesterday"
I stopped reading here. If you are going to misrepresent their statements to this degree, I'm not going to read your essay. |

How many more babyrage threads are you going to create?
You say that GGG is doing everything for $ and what Tencent says and now you also try say its just poe1. So why do you play? You're not gonna change anything. Leave. Why are you still here? You know why? Stockholm syndrom. |

It's far from Ruthless, although it is has some elements of it.
Ruthless: No easy access to support gems except two quests. No easy access to many auras. No easy access to Heralds. No gambling NPCs that might provide much needed gear. No movement skills except quick step. Similar elements in PoE2: Bossfights need to be done without dying (here PoE2 is even stricter) Item scarcity Bird lover of Wraeclast

" They did. The "promise" to do a new league a year after the old one when POE players have already left is about as believable as the Nigerian Prince. |

You need to stop opening daily new posts with all the same wrong information and wrong clickbait titles. This is like the 3rd or 4th one you have written, all exactly the same, all completely wrong, in less than a week.
And please....you have no interest in having people "change your mind". Love MadSheo's very real point earlier in this thread too: you appear to now be completely contradicting yourself too. Did they CHANGE and are now only in it for the $, as per your other "same" thread....or is it a direct copy of PoE 1 when they, presumably, WEREN'T motivated in the same way? How can anyone "change your mind" when you are on both sides of the world, without understanding either one? " One of your most recent, favorite things to say. In the 13/14 years since PoE has been around....this is the FIRST AND ONLY TIME we have had a situation like this with the developers. Not only that, but this is also the FIRST AND ONLY TIME they have ever released a second game. Yet you immediately jump on the "they have no credibility, nothing they say is believable" train. I don't know about you, but I think a SINGLE planning error across over a decade is worth something. For an older person, you seem to have the attention span of a teenager. At the absolute very least, the gut instinct of an adult is to be disappointed by the multiple delays and unpredictable timeframe. But it is the petulant child who jumps to "The game is ABANDONED!!!!!!" Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jan 31, 2025, 9:36:14 AM

Homie, in all seriousness, go play something else. Or better yet, take a break from screens for a while. You obviously don't have the temperament to play an unfinished title without losing your shit over trivial nonsense.

" And that was my main problem with ruthless SSF, you can't even really get your gems in any reasonable way. Otherwise, I actually liked ruthless. Also poe2 is nothing like ruthless. It showers you in gems until you stop picking them up. Last edited by b_ko#7756 on Jan 31, 2025, 10:15:23 AM

GGG said that Ruthless wouldn’t take up any of PoE1’s resources, yet years later, it has grown into a standalone game and even stole an entire season from PoE1. No one has pointed this out yet, but this is the biggest and most shameless lie.
