Reflecting shield monsters are poorly designed
Playing spark? Too bad, abandon map or die. You can also get close and IF you can face tank them, attack them. You can also dodge their attack and roll behind them and have enough time for zero or one attack.
Bad. Just bad. I've heard all the arguments, doesn't matter, still bad. Last bumped on Jan 31, 2025, 5:56:01 AM

Old thing in POE. Reflect always meant you can downright forget some map mods with the wrong build. You could not even finish a unique map (granmasters) if you happened to have the wrong build etc.

They are fine as-is. Their reflect is one of the only mechanics that punishes ranged builds for careless play.

This is less of a shield reflect issue and more of a spark issue.
# My highest level character is a spark mage so I know the frustration, but these are some of the only things to slow the build down. if these were to be removed because of the inconvenience then half of the game needs to be removed for inconveniencing mace warriors. |

It's a reflect. The amount of damage those green projectiles deal is proportional to how hard the attacker is hitting.
If your build is dishing out ranged hits that it could never possibly survive, perhaps the problem is with your own survivability. My chayula monk catches stray projectiles from these dudes all the time and it never makes a dent in his ES/HP. |
