Why is respec cost still a thing?

Im new to poe, i played about 40 hours of poe1 but quit.

I know people talked about the respec cost back in december when the game launched and it got reduced by 40%, but as someone who wants to experiment with builds which is why i thought poe was cool to begin with. I just feel punished for experimenting, and specially for not knowing what all the different modifiers do.

It feels like the way to play the game if you are new is to look up a guide.

Is there any possibility of removing the respec cost.

You're supposed to follow a meta build guide and never stray for one passive point. That's the POE way.

Its not as someone that always make my own. There is a lot of respeccing and fixing until it works. But when you get to maps you make so much gold that it becomes trivial to respec honestly. I doubt its because of respeccing you play meta builds. You just dont find it fun making your own builds. Meta builds are meta for a reason too, going off meta wont ever be as good as meta in all aspects of gameplay.

Yea i heard that alot, when you get to endgame you get enough gold to not worry about it, i just never got to endgame. I guess you can call it a skill issue, but i just stopped having fun with my build in act 3.

I have 3 characters 90+ in t15+ maps, I have no gold issues, but I certainly didn't have any fun with any build until well past act 3.

In the current state of the game I recommend picking a levelling friendly skill setup to push through to maps (there are a few guides out there), then experiment when the resources are considerably less scarce.

Not ideal I know.

Then make a new one and plan a bit more. If you dont have a lot of experience just winging it wont ever work.
