What is Endleague Liquidation?

What is the points of posting everything for sale and trying to amass currency when you are "done" with the season? It looks super tedious. I read in a post that it's just streamers running out of content to make. Or is there a point?

This doesn't really apply to POE2 since the league structure is different but in POE1 people usually do this when they are done with a league so that they can take all the currency back to standard with them. Or maybe they want to give currency away to friends, guildies or random players.
