All you need to do is kills lots of mobs, can say 500k is not enough getting single XX skill gem or even XIX spirit gem. That's in 2 months.
Assuming you need like around 500k kills to have one XX skill gem and spirit gems is more rare ~1M kills - you need to kill around 6M mobs to have spirit gems, 3 each, to two chars.

Now if leagues will be 3 months and with this killing phase its taking 2 years to get gems I need. Im feeling that im forced to RMT to progress.
Ofc you can farm money and buy those, so far I have got 18divs (XX spirit = 6div) - this includes drops & currency exchange.

You don't 'need' level 20 gems to do any endgame content.

I agree the drop rate is too low (and mana cost too high). Don't do mental gymnastics to defend cheating. If you are gonna cheat just do it.

(not gonna get into the lack of consequences)
