Kegworks is the only way to play on Mac, is it bannable?
I sometimes play POE on my Mac, but because the official Mac client frequently crashes I can only play via Kegworks.
Will I get banned for this? Last bumped on Feb 9, 2025, 7:24:14 AM

Unfortunately, we cannot comment on the legality of third-party tools, as we aren't able to thoroughly and accurately check exactly how they work.
In general, we do not encourage the creation or use of third-party tools because they provide advantages for players that use them. I'm afraid that we're unable to guarantee if a tool is allowed or would remain allowed in the future. Need help with something? Feel free to email us: support@grindinggear.com

Thank you for the prompt response.
I understand your stance on not commenting on the legality of third-party tools. However, in this case, I wonder if an exception is warranted. The reason is that both the official Mac client and the Steam client have been broken for months. Given the recent update about development capacity being overstretched, it is probably reasonable to expect that the Mac version will not be a priority and may remain broken for the foreseeable future. Playing via Kegworks is now essentially a community-supported Mac port and will likely be the ONLY way to play on Mac. Any information on this would be appreciated as falling foul of the rules, even when playing legitimately, could result in losing our entire PoE account. |

An exception is warranted, but at this point I think it's more likely that GGG will shut down POE 1 and 2, shut down and have its websites all redirect to diablo 4.
I don't know what happened but, despite the game being highly dependent on some third party tools to actually be playable, a few years ago GGG abruptly went from being very communicative with the player base in general and tool devs in particular about if specific behaviors were allowed or not to their current evasive stone wall It's a highly counter productive stance that ends up hurting new players badly. Both the large number that don't use vital quality of life providing tools out of misplaced fear and a smaller number who failing to realize that there's a difference between them and forbidden cheat tools earn themselves account bans. In both cases they end up driving people who could have become long term players away. Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? |

At the time of writing, nearly every search for Mac crash solutions, whether on Reddit or this forum, eventually leads to this Kegworks workaround on PoE Wiki.
