XP loss needs to go --- AGAIN
XP loss was a thing of the past in games like Everquest. No one liked it so it faded away when WoW came out and countless other games. It is not a 'check' on your gear at all when bugs are involved. Ever.
I got 4.8k mana for health and CI, 75 to all resists. One shot. Do not even know what killed me. No way to dodge roll. No way to stop the damage. Just dead. Is that a skill issue??? You have no notifications of a damage log in game anywhere I can see WHAT killed me. Betting if we had that in game... we could pinpoint the issue. EIGHT years of development and not a single battle damage log? Everquest had that. World of Warcraft had that. Xp loss is a slap in the face. You do everything right and no 'mechanics' are involved you just randomly DIE. This is not the Plane of Fear with Cazic Thule's deathtouch where you DO DIE with a random one shot (circa 2000). IF it was a skill issue -- sure but it is not. This is a developer issue. Early access is nice to fix bugs. Its February. Its been months. Fix it or eliminate the XP loss. 96 monk here so def have some playtime. Couldn't agree more. My character is decked out and i still die to random one shots and have zero clue what actually killed me. At this level even with the Exp loss Omen dying basically means you just wasted 6 hours of your life for nothing.
My favorite one is during breaches when you have a massive lag spike for no apparent reason (And im on a really good PC) and then you are dead. Love seeing all that loot after you just spent the last 5 hours buffing maps and towers etc. I'm expecting the next big patch to address these issues or i will be putting this one on the shelf until they are. Ive bought the most $$$ support pack so im here for the long run and i figure that gives me the right to complain just a bit. I just hope GGG listens to what players are telling them. |

People just want to have fun in a game.
It's not fun when the game forces mechanics on you, to keep you playing. It really is that simple. People have realized over the last 10 years, what actually matters in games. It's enjoyment. Not chasing dopamine. I don't have fun dying and losing progression. I don't have fun playing a game with awful loot, that's awful because they want to force you to grind more, and interact with the economy. Make the game fun. People will stay. Make the game about chasing dopamine, and the only people that stay are addicts, and people aiming to be competitive. Everyone else leaves. XP loss on death definitely gives some people a thrill in this game, and I can see the value it adds for them. However. Most players just want an actual challenge instead. A memorable gaming experience. This is why I don't understand why they can't just add it in as an option.
