I submitted the guild points, which consumed my gold, but my guild points did not increase.

Guild points must be accepted by the guild leader on the website in order to be applied to your guild's balance. The page for leaders to accept points is here:

The wording in the client does not describe these things, and we will be updating the process to make the required steps clear.
