Monster respawn has to go
Logged back in today after a long break and the monster respawn in campaign made me want to turn it off again. It feels so defeating and a waste of time when all I want to do is progress my character and experience the story.
I know some like it and others don't and it's been said a thousand times. I thought taking a break might change my view but it actually reinforced my view that it sucks. Edit: if I need the experience and/or loot I'll reset an instance. I don't need monsters/map to respawn and lose dropped loot its counter productive and just a nuisance feature Last edited by GuiltyParty32#9913 on Feb 18, 2025, 4:55:13 PM Last bumped on Feb 19, 2025, 12:03:32 AM

Who plays an ARPG like PoE for the story? Also, you still progress your character, because you get XP from the respawned monsters and don't lose any if you die.

I'll be totaly frank with you. If you feel defeated by that much, this game might not be for you. Because OH BOY, the end game is much more punishing and infuriating once you get to know the problems.
Also as C4 says you still get some progression as you level. But you also might want to take a look at your gear. Did you knew that each level the gear for the vendor change? (Yea pretty stupid design I know). So take a look there for upgrade from time to time. Also you can try to gamble at Alva if you're in act 3 (not sure if there's any other gambler in the 2 first act). |

" The most successful arpg of all time has a good story - Diablo. A poorly told story held PoE back which is why they spent so much effort on PoE2. |

" Looking at your characters I've spent more time playing PoE than you have, being totally frank. I'll call a shit design when I see it. |

Oh I never said it was a good design. Altought personnaly I don't mind it that much. I just told you that if it's all that take for you to want to get out of the game then you might want to stop here. Especially since you got more playtime from PoE1 than me, you should know better than me about GGG philosophy on "good design".

Im confused, didn't the same thing happen in poe1?
If players log out they get sent back to town upon log in, and if gone for more than 8-15mins the instance would be gone. |

*edit, post got duplicated somehow.

Yea, but if you died in the instance you would just reappear where you start (Wp, TP or area door) and could just continue as if you never died, loot still on the ground as far as I remember.

" That's fair enough. I've never seen it an arpg before. The worst part is the loot disappearing. You've killed the monsters you've earned the loot then a ground effect or something kills you and its taken away. I feel robbed, its just not a nice feeling. The monster respawning is just an inconvenience. |
