POE2 - Weak state of itemisation and unsatisfying looting

The loot acquisition and items diversity is off - looking at you mandatory rares and useless unique items and only good uniques gated behind League mechanics.

There is almost nothing exciting to search for, especially in regular maps and there is rarely a "holy shit what a cool item, I wonder what build I could do with that" moment. This aspect was always my favorite in the genre - slaying monsters and getting epic loot, without necessarily min-maxing rarity and without try-harding. Also the fact that lot of these items are gated behind pinnacle bosses make regular maping less fun - like chore before "the thing".



Two main issues:

1.
Currently try harding and correctly preparing your items and maps and league mechanics gives you enourmous advantage over regular play - that is not great, because now it is more of expected reward as you pre buffed all of that, and your game better drop it, or you're losing lot of value.

Wouldn't it be better if you could just hop in no expectations and have fun? don't know if you can relate to that, but I feel like it was always most fun way to play. Without try-harding and with no expectations - but that is simply not possible when normal play is far less rewarding like 10x less value if you don't do league mechanics and prebuff it + most best items are gated behind league mechanics. I'm not calling for removal of juicing but it's way too good and it's just a chore let's be honest.


2.
The focus is heavily on rare items right now and most of uniques are bad. The rares being mandatory are not bad, but the weighting might be little off. There are mandatory resists to hit and mandatory stat requirement to hit - which is alright. Stats can be circumvent with Astramentis - which seems to be absolute game changer on that case, but it is unrealistic to get it. One item to fix all of that big itemisation/character building issue? Not great.

So now you have to get most of the slots filled with rares and you don't really have choice unless you have 100+ divines. Itemisation at that point might feel little wow-esque, get these flat boring stats and be done with it, sort of diablo3 like itemisation on release, if anybody remembers that.


If these two could be changed it would be far more enjoyable to play it - without all of that 5D-chess preparations and with cool uniques around at any map possible to drop - especially just from regular map bosses, they never drop anything good and die too fast.

You might disagree which is fine, but have you ever felt accomplished and satisfied when you logged off after playing the game? Or perhaps was that empty feeling inside of chasing something that don't exist...

You forgot the biggest issue, drop rates are low. I could do pinnacle bosses and pay 1-7 div for the entrance fee and get shit drops. In regular mapping, 99% of the items I find are trash. The chance to drop good loot is so low, it's forcing a lot of players to quit due to lack of progression in gear. Heck, throughout most of the campaign I would use the same items for 20 or more levels.
They need to add the crafting bench and all meta crafts from POE 1 into POE 2, and we need to raise absolute hell until they do it.

Their crafting idea for POE 2 is bad, and they should feel bad for designing it.

They are a multi-million dollar company, I don't think they are going to feel anything

That's the only thing they feel. Did you not catch they just said like last week "hey guys we quit making POE 1" and the outcry was so bad it's now getting an event and is un-cancelled.
