tier levels next to mod descriptions + controller

Hi, I have a problem with my controller gameplay. It seems completely random whether the tier levels next to mod descriptions are displayed when I hover over an item, for example in the inventory, with the controller. Sometimes it stays visible when I briefly press the left stick, sometimes it doesn't. When interacting with a chest, the same stick is responsible for jumping into the text search field of the chest, which is super annoying. Is there a trick to ALWAYS display the tier levels so that I can classify items into junk or good more quickly?
