In this thread we talk about The Music of POE
"Lioneye's Watch isn't much, but it's ours..." - Nessa
In little over a week's time marks the 3rd month POE2 has been out since Dec 24. By now i'm sure many have listened to the background OST for all 3 acts in the EA thus far..now that there is a lull in content while we wait for March's madness to arise..time to obsess over the OST! Myself, i can finally come to understand the "vibe" or "energy" that usually comes with the gameworld, simply put the Lore of the IP, Wraeclast & it's unique locales. While Kamil is credited with what we've been hearing these couple of months in POE2, little did i know he also composed that of it's predecessor - the first game. When that happens of a game studio - that is to call upon it's OG composer to return - for the sophomore follow up speaks volumes. With that hint in mind i delved deeper... Of the 3 Acts so far, the music for Act 1 is by-far the most memorable - for me. The town music of Clearfell is so melancholic & so very much reminded me of a certain game that starts with D. Strings (violins) and i swear the music from Hunting Grounds felt like a tribute to the 'Wilderness' soundtrack from D2 Act1. Anyone with similar thoughts on that? When the quest for Una's lute was completed i was wondering why the heck was the town music muted when any of the 3 new dialogue options were selected..is she meant to play those songs..? When the update was finally patched, not only did she play them..she SANG them too. They are all great songs, but one particular ballad stood out.. that was LionEye - it has the hook that all cannot be mistaken nor denied. That led to the proper undertone of Lion's Eye Watch. With those notes in mind i bring myself deeper down into the rabbit hole..and listened to ALL of the soundtracks of POE1. All i can say is - i hope POE2 has the musical muscle to repeat some of the outstanding work in the first game ..because it's so damn good. There remain 3 more acts..and Geonor's iconic boss music/poem is extremely memorable & likely GOATED for years to come.
