Is Evasion worthwhile for Warrior?

So I ran the base numbers and am getting (using Mail Armor STR/EVASION + 341% bonus through warrior build)...

Armor 2502.94 base Evasion 751.18 base

This is top generic Mail Armor with 86 STR and 86 DEX.

If I put Plate Armour on the numbers are:

Armor 3757.82 base No Evasion.

If you look at the Armor mitigation table, the 2500 to 5000 range is using the same column.

I am sure there is some fundamental math issue here that I am not getting. It seems to me that getting the Dex up to 86 gives you a lot of benefits (Evasion and Accuracy) and also allows you to get on the Increased attack speed part of the tree.

What is worrisome is some of the STR requirements for weapons (2 handed maces) for late game are pretty steep...

So two questions- why aren't more warriors going with mail armor with Armour and Evasion?

and

Are Axes or Swords going to be STR and DEX?

Depends if there's a unique to build from, if a passive makes it possible, or if the reduction in armour with evasion is better than pure armour. From my understanding, dodging maybe 30-40% of hits with 60% armour may be better than having 75% armour. Dex only gives accuracy btw.
