Minions are designed to be so stupid!!

Minions only follow behind the player, it's totally a bad design!
Yes you can point a direction to let the minions move a bit to the wanted location, but it's just so slow for mapping(not to mention they always get stuck by the doorway); why not give the minions a larger enemy detect range so they can automatically go and attack instead of following??

The game WOLCEN proves that it is possible to have great Minions.

They always stay in front of the player
and immediately attack if there are Enemies.

They also take agro and stay on Enemies.

Path of Exile Minions always have been stupid as standard.

Later in POE1 players received Taunt Effects for Golems and other Minions.

POE1 is so much better when it comes to Pets..
It really drives me crazy sometimes...

Hope they can fix this a bit in next major updates...
Also minions suck on half of the maps that have corridors.

Larger detect is good idea and simple to implement.

They are as dumb as a ham sandwich, but I’m the boss and I don’t want smart minions. Before you know it, they’ll kill you while you sleep and take all the loot. I’ve played a great deal of end game maps, and I count maybe 11 times they’ve gotten stuck or being a problem. I guess learn to play with them is the mechanic – unless you’d prefer just staying at the waypoint and letting them run the whole map themselves. 😉

Try also Grim Dawn, minions can be put in aggressive, defensive or passive state.
