challenge feature idea: vow of selflessness

Hello.
I have an idea how to make the endgame more challenging for players who want that. It's a purely optional feature for players who want to opt-in. The player would be able to take a vow of selflesness. As a consequence they become a gift to others: whenever they find a super strong item like Astramentis, a mirror of Kalandra or a perfect rare item they can not equip it nor sell it. The only thing they can do with it, is to gift it to others. Whats the benefit of this feature? The developers can balance it in a way that the player can never outscale the content with items. It stays challenging while a good player can still complete it. This way the player would not have to limit his own power level to have a challenging experience - the developers would provide a balanced experience for him.
