Life Masteries Rework

The life masteries on the passive tree need a rework. None of them are being taken by even life staking builds. I play a lot of life builds and I never feel like taking them is worth a point.

The 15% if you have no life on the armor is pretty nice! I do miss some of the other ones though.

I did find that with the changed to life on items, you're a lot less reliant on your tree . I was able to keep my hp in the 7k range after dropping almost half my life nodes just by divining my old T-1's to the new values.

I think they're wanting us to get our life from gear more than the tree at this point.
The only way I am taking more life masteries is:
If I don't have life on a body armor
they remove some jewel/cluster jewel sockets on the tree

losing 5-6 points per wheel and mastery isn't worth a medium +2 small clusters or jewels.

It is kind of the problem with clusters in the first place. it does depend on getting the right rolls.

they could either increase the precentages, or give more interesting stats to life nodes (stuff that can't be found on the tree now, or on cluster jewels). Someone will make a build for it, even if it is bad.

i honestly think they should remove that.


an average life node is 5%, you spend a point to get this mastery which you could otherwise spend on a 5% average node so ur getting 10% life on any armour without life.


do they just not give a shit about item balance? every item they ever designed that doesnt have life was done so for a purpose, now its just randomly all got 10% life? is that how little they give a shit about their item design? yeah when we designed that we thought it was balanced with no life, but it having 10% life is basically the same right? 0% or 10%, same deal? its whatever?

is that how slapdash their balance is? i thought they actually gave a fuck about what they were putting on items and really considered this stuff. cloak of flame randomly has more life now than a lightning coil, is that intended in the design of those items? when adding the 75% resist to COF and -60% resist to coil, was it considered that the COF has more life than the coil? is the COF having more life and 135% more resist than a coil balanced around what, the 10% extra conversion?

in fairly sure its not, i think the massive difference in resist was balanced around a coil having a strong life roll. and then they changed the life values on a rare armour and now randomly gave COF 10% life? every time they put some amount of life on an item that was supposed to be a good thing, but now if its less than what 10% life gives you it was actually a nerf to the item. they obviously didnt intend those life rolls to be a negative stat, but now they all are a negative stat.


are they designing items with this in mind now? if they make a new unique chest is a life roll worth less than 10% life now considered a stat that nerfs the item? is any life roll on a rare worth less than 10% life + what another prefix on the chest could give you now considered a 'thorns' roll thats shit and hurts the player? is that intentional design?



so stupid imo, needs removed. one of those brain farts they had an threw in off the cuff but really shouldnt be there at all. its an abomination that just says their entire process of item balance is a complete joke and never rly mattered. just designers having a random idea and then getting attached to it to the point where they throw it in despite it really being an awful thing that should never be in the game. rack it up along with golems giving players passive buffs, melee totems giving players passives buffs, melee totems simply existing etc.


the first thing they need to do in the life mastery rework is remove that from the game forever, stick its severed head on a spike in the office as a warning to all future passive nodes.
