GGG's sudden lack of communication
Hello GGG team,
I’m writing this as both a long-time supporter of your work and as a fellow software developer. I work in a small company of about 20 people, so I’m very familiar with the challenges of product development, technical debt, customer expectations, and limited resources. But even from that perspective, I cannot for the life of me understand what has happened to your communication culture. Over the years, the Path of Exile community has become used to a certain level of transparency and responsiveness—especially when it came to meaningful feedback during leagues or major updates. While I understand that not every comment, troll post, or speculation deserves a response, what we're seeing now feels like complete silence. And it's not just random complaints being ignored. There are well-structured, detailed, and respectful forum threads—some of the most upvoted and discussed posts in weeks—being left without even a single acknowledgement from your side. As a developer, I know firsthand how hard it can be to juggle priorities, especially with a major project like PoE2 going on. But GGG is not just a game studio—it’s a company. And like any company, you have salaries to pay, a community to maintain, and a brand to protect. What I don’t understand is: how has communication dropped to such a low level? My small company doesn’t even have a public forum, but we would never leave a support ticket unanswered for more than 7 working days. That would be seen as completely unacceptable. If we treated constructive feedback with silence, we’d lose our clients and go bankrupt in just some months. Is it the absence of Chris Wilson or the departure of Bex that caused this? Has no one from your 100+ person team had even an hour per month to reply to the most visible forum posts? Where did the openness go? Let me be honest—it’s not just about missed replies. It’s about promises that are no longer being kept. When PoE2 was announced, you gave very clear statements: "Don’t worry—PoE1 will continue to be developed in parallel." "Cosmetics will transfer from PoE1 to PoE2." "... and others ..." Those were promises. But where is PoE1 development now? We’re stuck in Settlers, a league that is going to last a whole year. A league that already feels done for many of us. Where’s the content? Where’s the feedback loop? Where is the proof that PoE1 still matters? The forums are full of passionate players sharing good, honest, and often very respectful feedback. And yet the silence remains. It’s starting to feel like GGG doesn’t value its community anymore. Not the loudest part, not the angriest part—but even the most reasonable part that simply wants a sign that someone is still listening. I honestly don’t believe PoE2 is generating so much revenue that you can afford to just ignore everyone. Most of your microtransaction income still probably comes from PoE1 players—the ones who bought supporter packs every league, played every event, gave useful feedback, and brought others into the game. What happened? Have you made so much from the last few years that now it doesn’t matter what we think? Are you focusing only on future hype while letting the foundation you built crumble underneath? I’m trying to compare this to my own company, but I just can’t. If we went this silent after a big product delay or feature change, our clients would leave us. Fast. You’ve forgotten the people who made you successful—not some hopeful newcomers or fanboys still dreaming about PoE2, but the veterans who carried your game for years. And now, we’re asked to wait until 3.26 with barely anything in between? I work 40 hours a week, and even I used to find time for every league. But now? I’m already bored to death of Settlers, and knowing it will last for a year just removes any motivation. Please, this is not hate. This is frustration from someone who genuinely cared, who still wants to care, but is just tired of being met with silence. Please talk to us again. You don’t need to reply to everything, but at least acknowledge the big topics, the meaningful threads. Rebuild some of the trust that has been lost these past months. Sorry if any bigger mistakes happened while writing this down, I'm not a native speaker. I am just trying to point out why I'm so frustrated. Sincerely, KinJin91 Last bumped on May 22, 2025, 1:27:47 AM

I miss the days when I was excited for Path of Exile, and looking forward to Path of Exile 2. Back when I considered GGG to be one of the best developers.
End of an era. |

You hit the nail on the head, Chris and Bex are gone and they were the voice of the company.
This studio is taken a steep downward direction in player engagement. |

Given the seemingly 'insane' moderation that occurs within these forums, and that hands on activity being almost the only 'visible' level of activity these days from GGG, it almost feels as if everyone has been replaced by tencent employees directly.

GGG are currently on season 6 of their 'Game of Thrones' arc. Fuck I hope I am wrong about that.

It is disappointing indeed.
No mention on their own forum about the latest PoE 1 teasers, only other social media platforms. Absurd. 😹😹😹😹😹
I do not and will not use TFT. Gaming Granny :D 🐢🐢🐢🪲🪲🪲 @xjjanie.bsky.social |

I completely agree—it’s disheartening to spend time writing thoughtful feedback only to see that the only posts getting responses are the ones the moderators have to close due to hostility.
I hope the detailed and constructive feedback many players share is being read and considered. Even a small sign of acknowledgment would go a long way. For example, mentioning the players who contributed ideas in the patch notes (even just a name) would be a simple but meaningful way to show that the feedback is being heard. That kind of recognition could encourage more players to contribute positively and helpfully. |

I agree. They clearly bit of way WAY more than they could chew.
From a business standpoint, if developing a new service makes it so that they have to neglect the one they have already out there to this extent, they were never ready to expand like this in the first place. It makes the management look incompetent, and the lack of communication is just amplifying this impression. I don't know. It's a completely needless waste of the social capital they've built over many years. |

" At this point, they're still very much in the process of recouping their development costs. Plus there is still at least a year of development left. The numbers are very good, just to be clear, but "revenue" and "profit" are two very different things. Last edited by GregoryAdams#7051 on May 21, 2025, 7:21:18 PM
