POE2 endgame task is very bad for the brain health
90% of the endgame in POE2 = "Kill all rares".
"Kill all rares" is all we do and "killing all rares" is what we have to do most of the time....ofc they're other league mechanics but if we want to proceed a non boss map: yup "kill all rares". So what is this guy talking "POE2 endgame is bad for the brain health". We run a psychotherapeutic practice here in Austria and we have specific tests on PC to tire the brain of the patients on purpose with monotonous tasks ... this way we can determ the ability to concentrate and other neurological deseases. An here is the key: Monotonous tasks stresses and tires the brain, no matter how the task looks like. No matter if "count all triangles" like in the our tests or "kill all rares" like in POE2. The thing is that our tests are limited to maximum 1 hour, othervise it could lead to very high rates of stress to the brain with all it's side effects (headache, insomnia, etc...). In POE2 we have the situation that people don't play for only 1 hour, many play 3-4 hours straigt....some even 12 hours daily. "Kill all rares" 12 hours a day....don't want to imagine how stressful this must be for the human brain. And as said the task doesen't matter here....be it "kill all boars", "gather all flowers", "count all triangles" or "kill all rares". If there's only 1 taks and you have to do it over and over again to proceed it degenerates the human brain in long term. Suggestion: Give us other tasks than "kill all rares" or better, let the player decide how he wants to finish a map with some kind of progression bar. If I just want to do Rituals + killing some mobs on the way to fill up the bar to 100% it should be possible. Let us decide by ourself how we want to finish a map.....not by "kill all rares" Now theres the arrgument that "you want to kill all rares anyway, becasue they carry the best loot".....Yes, but thats not the point. The point is that the game offers only 1 task most of the time to proceed: "kill all rares"....If you give your brain the same task over and over again "kill all rares", "kill all rares" ,"kill all rares", that's where the problem starts. Our brain needs diversity no matter what we do....if a game give us the task "kill all rares" over and over again that we MUST do most of the time to proceed it stresses the brain and comes with all negative side effects that most of the people are not even aware off. Headache after a long POE2 season or problems to fall asleep that gets worse from day to day?...yup thats becase your brain is in the monotonous "kill all rares" loop and needs some time to lower this kind of stress before you can even think about falling asleep. I certainly prefer "kill all rares" to kill boss in tiny arena whilst my minions get locked out or whatever.
That being said, I like choice and would like to see precursor tablets that can do similar to what you suggest. Tablets that could remove bosses from the radius. Or like you said, tablets that change the goal for completion to be finish the rituals/expedition/whatever. I like the tablet system and hope they make a lot of different kinds that do crazy things and change stuff up. Also keep in mind that they were going to release early access with no end game at all. What we're seeing as end game now could be very different than what's in 1.0. | |
Aren't we in the map to kill all rares, because they have the highest chance to drop good loot? Together with the boss of course. I don't want to solve any puzzles in a map or other tedious things. I want to hack and slay.
