Not another xp loss rant

First of all, I couldn't care less about xp loss, never played SC. But I see new threads posted about this daily. Been reading those once in a while to have a good laugh.

Recently I had an idea. What if the lost xp on death is not lost forever but instead added to a "XP pool" to be recovered over time as bonus xp?
(Actually not my idea. It's from a game released over 20 years ago called Anarchy Online. One of best MMOs I ever played.)

I can think of couple of ways this could work:

1. XP lost added to the XP pool to be recovered as bonus XP at 300% of the base XP you are getting from monsters until the pool is empty. If you die again the pool is overwritten and the new loss is stored.

2. XP lost is added to a limited XP pool which can store a few deaths worth of XP. Pool size depending on current character level. And again to be recovered as bonus XP as you blast. But if you keep dying the pool will be filled and XP is no longer stored until you make room.

Additionally: If the idea of the "XP pool" is added to the game it could open a door for more in-game events and bonuses to add to this pool. (For example: Hard and pinnacle bosses, other unique monsters, rogue exiles, unique map completions or random Atlas events.)

Note: This isn't in anyway going to help players who die all the time. So as they say "Get good". Instead it will help good players who make the occasional mistake, fall victim to bad RNG or get a lag spike.

Implementation of this I think is not going to be hard.

I think you mean you couldn't care less.

I could care less means you in fact, can, care, less on the matter.
This idea sounds very good.

Thanks for pointing that out. Languages are hard but I'm learning every day.

How DARE you?

Anyway, this seems overcomplicated compared to just using the omen. Hopefully by the time someone is raging about losing experience, they'll know whether or not they should re-enter combat without use of the omen.
So you never play SC yet made a thread about exp loss even though you never have to deal with that mechanic?

Nah it has to go. Easiest solutions are this:

1: Delete it.
2: Make it optional.

You don't understand the frustration of hours of your progress get deleted instantly, progress which the player has earned and the game has no right to steal away from us. This is why there are so many threads with 30+ pages of comments about this topic.

Its pretty unfair that exp loss solely exists to "punish people for daring to click Softcore" since its non-existant in HC. It actually makes 0 logical sense. That's like punishing a player for choosing easy mode in a game. It's just confusing game design.

I've played many other games with XP loss and in my opinion getting to the max level should be a hard earned achievement. The next thing you would ask for is weekend xp boosts and xp potions right?

No, all people want is to be able to slowly make their way to max level at their own pace without the game literally stealing away their exp and hours of map grinding.

I wouldn't bother paying 30 divines for exp carry services, or joining exp leech groups if lvl100 was actually fun to reach. But unfortunately I must do the safest, quickest content in order to get what I want, because a game in the year 2025 deletes your exp.

Its just outdated game design.

You are actually right. This is now the world we live in... No kid is left behind and every kid gets a prize. The bar couldn't get lower.
