Came to back see if GGG remembers how to design a game...mixed results

I am exaggerating a bit, but not by much. Yes, they do know how to design a game, but I don't know who this thing is for, but once again they tricked me into thinking it was me.

As has been the case with GGG since the beginning of PoE2, they simply don't know what kind of game they want and they constantly send mixed messages. I finally learned this after playing breach pinnacle a second time.

Examples...

* they claim they want to slow the game down, but flood the map with enemies and literally create challenges to see who can finish the fastest

* they claim they want to create meaningful engagements, but at the end of the day, the best strategy is, and always has been, kill everything as quickly as possible...and they give you the tools to do that...kind of. Almost. They give them to us, but then nerf them when people clear stuff too fast...but then why create challenges? Or why create bosses with so many 1 shots in the game? If I go tanky, I don't have enough damage to bring it down. If I go high damage, I'm fragile, but then it motivates me to focus solely on high DPM builds, whether they are fun or not. When the best strat is kill everything quickly, that is not meaningful engagement.

* Can people do this stuff? Yes, but is it fun for most people? No. Is that a problem? No, but then don't pretend you're listening to us. Either create a niche game and don't try to please everyone, or create a balanced game that actually balances things for a normal human being with a full-time job that is streaming.

* they claim they want you to learn you something...but most of the time I'm dying to stuff I can't even see because there are a hundred things happening on the screen with a dozen different enemies and I don't know what came from who. And rather than sitting there learning, where I can be 1 shot, the lesson is "kill everything ASAP".

* oh, they also don't tell you things like what percentage of your damage comes from what skill, what bosses you have beaten and different stats about them, a break down of what kind of damage killed you...basically, no actual data you can learn from

* also, they create mechanics in trials that appear NO WHERE else in the game.

Maybe I'll try again, but we'll see. The story is always the same. GGG does genuinely make strides to creating a balanced game, but then pullback before they get to the finish line, leaving a hopeful, but ultimately disappointing experience.
