Crossbow Ammo Switching + Reloading - Bug or Intended? Either way, terrible.

Here's the scenario:

You empty your clip of armor piercing rounds, switch to high-velocity rounds and fire the shot.

Now you want to switch back and fire the armor piercing rounds again, so then the character loads the previously emptied clip?

Which means you immediately have to re-load armor piercing rounds again??

This can't be right. Is this working as intended?

Why on earth would the mercenary load an empty or half spent clip?

This makes using the "shotgun" skills even more unbearable. switching between ammo keeps you in this cadence:


load
shoot
load
shoot
load
reload
shoot
load
reload
shoot
load
reload
shoot

There's twice as much loading as shooting. Why do we load spent clips??

That can't be intended.. it's non-sensical!

Reload speed is key. Problem is, there are usually 2 multi combos and 2 single target combos. Imagine also having to weapon swap for grenades, do banners, totems... LOL Merc is so weird. By the time you do high velocity, you have to armor piercing, because armor not broken anymore or the similar sit with galvanic and shockburst... By the time you start shockurst, you have to shock again and oh ROFL And all the mana it all costs. Lovely, sure! Very tricky to play with. Merc is mostly utility, defense and speed oriented. Offense comes with ease, of those are solved. Resource could be tough, because of the damage conversions, but hey... It has to be brutal. it is path of exile after all!!
HC SSF. What else? Ruthless when?

I have 28% skill speed ( with Gemling Legionnaire accsendary combo) and still my Crossbow is slowest of other weapons that don't use skill speed effect passives.

The experience of reloading is pathetic and there is no excuse why bow players avoid this punishment. ALSO not using offhand item is another punishment that would solved the problem of reloading and not only...

Now imagine also adding to them the dodge roll time that during this time, reload or any other effect of skill gems are prevented. And this happens to specific effects of Crossbow weapon becouse skills like Caltrop work just fine....

Pathetic and rediculus work over skill's duration times.

It's not only annoying but makes the Crossbow weapon unplayable most times during fight. Devs need to allow in dodge roll duration the Reload of weapon. It is enough one punishment of reload duration otherwise its gonna be 2sec delay before the weapon will be ready to fire.

Its insane punishment. We can't even invest passives to solve the problem.
