PoE2 Needs Forum Currency

In order to incentivize long term engagement and player retention, PoE2 should implement a system of forum currency that allows players to build and retain wealth season over season. The most notable example of this is d2jsp but that site has a lot of issues I will address. The MedianXL mod for d2 did it right and I think the devs should look to that for ideas on how to implement something like this properly. Below are some key points I'd like to make in support of this idea.

1. Having a system like this encourages players to return at the start of each season when item values are at their highest. If I knew I could jump on at the start of the season to grind and make some everlasting currency, I would be taking off work every season start to jump in.

2. Being able to purchase items early on with forum currency trades discourages people from engaging in RMTs. Why go through that trouble when they can just offload currency they've saved up?

3. The devs could implement ways of injecting this currency into the economy without making the game pay to win that would allow everyone, even GGG, to benefit. The first way is to give it as rewards to accounts that engage in forum discussion. Have a post that gets thousands of views? Currency reward. Have a response to someone's post that gets tons of upvotes? Currency reward. This would even encourage people to post and respond to bug reports more often. The second way is to do charity events that allow for a one time reward of a small amount of currency for donating a certain amount. This would be great optically for GGG.

4. This system can be implemented without requiring in-game meetups for item exchanges by simply allowing for character auctions. Give players the ability to create a new character and run them to Clearfell. They can put the item they want to sell in the character inventory then log out of it and come to the forum to post the character for x amount of forum currency. Lock that character from being accessible during the auction and add a way for people to view the character's inventory from the forum so they can see the item they want to buy is in fact there. Then, when the character sells, initiate an automatic account transfer of that character to the purchasing account. No scams, no meeting up, no problems. Also, this would allow people to sell high level characters to each other in the event they want to switch to a new class. And people with currency can purchase a character without having to go back through the grind.

As far as I can see, this kind of trading would revolutionize the experience of PoE2 and get rid of the hassles of navigating the current trade site and whisper process. It would encourage player retention and forum engagement, while also giving GGG the chance to host charity events that look great for the company and incentivize players to participate.

Sooo basically legal RMT... No thank you
Just play Standard. I got the new quiver Cadiro's Gambit from Moment of Zen yesterday. I'm in SSF, so that was a big deal for me. My next character will be an archer. If they nuke the economy in 0.3, I'll play Standard SSF instead.

I'm agnostic, but I pray to god this dosen't even find 1% interest in the mind of GGG. If they do, I would like to be informed in advance so I could stop playing this game immediately.
TL;DR:

Implementing a forum-based currency system in Path of Exile 2—inspired by MedianXL (not d2jsp)—would greatly improve player retention, early-season engagement, and trade efficiency. Here's the pitch:

Seasonal Incentive: Players would grind early each season to earn high-value items and convert them into lasting wealth, promoting long-term engagement.

RMT Deterrent: With a legitimate, persistent currency system in place, players would be less inclined to resort to real-money trades.

Currency Distribution:

Reward forum engagement (e.g. popular posts, helpful bug reports).

Host charity events where donors earn small one-time currency rewards, benefiting both community and optics.

Streamlined Trading via Character Auctions:

Players create characters holding items for sale, list them on forums, and auto-transfer them to buyers post-sale.

No in-game meetings, no scams, and even high-level characters can be bought/sold legitimately.

Bottom Line:
This system would modernize trade, boost forum activity, deter RMT, and create new PR and monetization avenues for GGG—all while respecting the game’s non-pay-to-win ethos.

- p.s Don't actually agree with him and I like the way trade works.
