Another Fail By GGG

This league sucks. Another fail from GGG. Not even fun. Id rather take a kick to the nuts then be frustrated with this hot trash. You guys are headed in the wrong direction. Been playing for 7+ years and now im fully and completely done with this company. Cant listen to player input cause they get to butthurt about criticism. Well you lost a long time player. Chris was the only one who gave a shit about the game. You guys are lost!

I agree, I think this is one of the worst league mechanics they've ever done, but I don't know what you're hoping for anyone at GGG to get out of your post. There's nothing remotely actionable about this feedback. You have to state what a specific problem is, and what you don't like about it, if you want anyone at GGG to actually take your complaints seriously. "It's bad cuz it's bad" doesn't help anyone.

For example: one of the many problems I have with the mechanic is that you have very little agency over getting the merc you want, even after you know exactly what it is. There are about 30 different archetypes, and each uses a subset of 6 skills pulled from a list of 9-16 abilities depending on type. Because you can't level mercs up, obviously you're going to be looking exclusively at T17 mercs, and you need to get the specific type, and you need them to randomly roll the right set of abilities. That could take hundreds, possibly even thousands of maps to see a single time. And there are multiple different basic changes GGG could have made along the development path of this system, obvious choices which completely eliminate this problem: if mercs level up with you (to a point) it means you aren't pulling exclusively from T17 maps, and you can benefit from the thousands of mercenary encounters you have along the way, or in guardian maps, etc. Alternatively, if you can choose which abilities your merc has equipped from their full list of skills, all you have to do is find the proper archetype. Both of these options are so obvious that it's inconceivable that GGG didn't think of them; they knew that the mechanic was an extreme RNG slot machine to min-max, and they wanted it to be that way.
Chris sold out and bounced, he isn't the solution to the problem he started. Get him back and he'll just sell out again.
I for one am having a great fun with mercenaries and hope they go core. Heck, I'd go as far as allow custom kitting out entire party of them. What is missing is ability to keep them and level them up and fine tune aspects of their behaviour/AI and skills.
