My case for Cast While Channeling love
TLDR:
I think CwC needs to have the nerf bump mended a bit. CwC could start at 30% less at lvl 1 and drop to 20% less at lvl 20. Awakened CwC could start at 20% less at lvl 1 and drop to 10% less at lvl 5. When I started PoE, I got to the end of the game at act 4, not even knowing how the story was setup. I had no on screen indications of what I had to do, and so I left the game alone for a few years. When I came back after Diablo 3 disappointing me, I got into playing the game proper. I played every class to maps, playing every skill in a variety of ways. No guides, just vibin it. After a while, I felt that I was missing something. Melee wasn't ever my thing in ARPG's, and monothematic casters weren't either. I played ranger a lot and as easy as it was, it still did not satisfy me. With all the skills and combinations that could be, the builds I was coming up with just didn't deliver the power. When I hit my wall in yellow maps, I found Jousis. I watched a few videos, tried to copy the busted builds, and failed. I didn't follow them exactly, which is my fault. However, I learned that the line between mediocre and busted was razor thin. And so back I went, trying a variety of things to find whatever it was I would enjoy. As I watched meme builds and tinkered with combinations, I found Cast While Channeling and Cyclone. And it didn't take much longer to find what became the skillset for me. CwC Cyclone Ball Lightning. BL lingers long enough to leave damage in my wake. With enough move speed, I would spin through enemies and my cape of BL would do the work. After a while, I found something even better. Sire of Shards. To me, a real unique, in that it altered my V shape casting into a nova of BL, firing everywhere. That was where it was at for me. Each league, I found new ways to improve the build. Eventually, I got to the point where I was able to kill everything I fought. Not instantly. But I could learn patterns, not slam pots, and win within 6 portals. Sometimes without using more than 1. After a while, I was getting enough damage into my build to where Elder, Shaper, Sirus, and the various guardians were starting to become easy. And right before I found out about timeless jewels to boost my damage further, the big nerf to CwC hit. 30% LESS. No change as you level, no difference between awakened and normal. Just massive nuke. Since then, every boss I used to handle had become just too hard. At least for a few more leagues. However, new bosses were added. And these ones were out of reach. A couple of times, I got some tech to get closer to pre less nerf, however, nothing fully was like it used to be. Now with secrets of the atlas and with settlers, the big bosses are just massive hp sacks. At most I end up doing 1million dps. And that isn't enough to really work most of these endgames without using all my portals. I think the damage to CwC can be unraveled a bit. I can understand the power of dual casting (using two spells) can be stonks, in most cases, the effect of 3.33 casts per second is never overcoming the damage loss, by a large margin, to use it as a main casting method. So I think a progressive reduction on the less damage would be a good solution. Still a big penalty to start, however not an arrow to the knee, in the end. Just a little limp.
