Performance issues deli fog + burning ground

I've noticed the game starts to have serious frame drops with certain surfaces and deli fog. especially if there's lots of foliage to burn like in Steppe. I'm not sure what settings I could change because the game runs very smoothly most of the time, but then in these combinations of environmental vfx I get crazy chugging that impacts gameplay.
