Ignite RF
Hi everyone,
I'm playing a Righteous Fire Chieftain and I'm trying to fully understand how ignite chance and Hinekora, Death’s Fury interact in the current patch (3.24+). Specifically, I'm confused about: Does Hinekora's explosion effect require enemies to be ignited? Some older sources (like older versions of Pohx’s guides) mention needing ignite for the explosions to work properly, but the current tooltip and wiki seem to say it’s just a flat 5% chance on kill — no ignite needed. Can someone confirm? If I’m not using any skills that can ignite (only RF), is there any point in investing in ignite chance or ignite-related stats (like Combustion Support)? Since RF itself can’t ignite, I assume these would be wasted — but maybe I’m missing something? Do ignites help with “chain explosions” or clear speed in any indirect way, even if they’re not required? Just looking to clear up all the confusion and avoid wasting stats/passives on something that has no effect in my setup. Appreciate any help from people who’ve tested or min-maxed this recently! Thanks 🙏 Last bumped on Jul 26, 2025, 11:06:18 AM

1. Hinekora's explosion deals a bunch of damage. It is chance-based yes, and you can't really increase the odds of this chance to explode. However, when dealing with a pack of monsters, odds are you'll trigger this explosion at least once, considering the number of monsters in a pack. 2. Assuming that you can only trigger an explosion once per pack just by running into it with RF, ignite chance (100% particularly) is needed so that the Hinekora explosions can chain. 3. An explosion, with 100% ignite chance, will inflict an Ignite ailment on surrounding mobs, which, thanks to the explosion's high base damage, will inflict enough Ignite damage to also kill the surrounding mobs, and help in triggering a chance for another explosion. That's the gist. You invest in ignite chance to help chain the explosions. You are correct, RF can't ignite. The ignite chance is simply to help explosions ignite mobs. Therefore, ignites do help with chain explosion, which indirectly helps clear speed. It's not required, but if you don't invest in ignite chance, then the only times you "roll" the 5% chance on kill is when RF kills the enemies. If you invest in ignite chance, then you "roll" the 5% chance when: 1. RF kills the enemies 2. When an explosion kills an enemy (which can chain) |
