" Rule of thumb says armour x5 of damage taken by a hit, reduces it by 50%. So lets say you get hit for 4000 damage of physical damage ( a suped rare, or boss), unless your using "less damage taken" or stacking Endurance charges, that 4000 hit, takes 2000 life from your health pool. Get hit twice... and die. 75% resistances, arn't enough on their own either. Some skills in this game, can hit you for upwards of 16,000+ elemental damage, before you factor in stuff like critical strikes (if your unlucky). A 16,000 damage spell, with 75% resistances and no spell suppression and/or endurance charges, will hit you for like 4000 damage (or more, if the boss has elemental penetration). Basically you need layers and layers of mitigation, and the bare minimum of having 75% all resistances isn't enough for more than just getting through the campagne really. If you want to do challengeing content, you'll need to get "+max all resistances" to the 85-90% range with endurance charges, or spell suppression and like ~80% resistances. Lastly, 3.5k life isn't much... even if you should not just assume a character is not tanky because of low life pool. A character with 90% all resistances and like 96% block/spell block and say 4k life.... is going to feel a million times more tanky, than a 7000 life character that only has 75% all resistances or no block/spell block. *Edit: The good news "I play Chieftain". They are really easy to get max resistances with. What you want to do, is get a lv21 purity of fire aura, inside a +2 helm. Stack some Aura effect from passive tree + gear... and get +6-8 max all resistances that way. Then path to the 2 wheels that give 3% max resistances each. Take the fire nodes only (since you only need the fire res ones as a cheiftain). The armour mastery, the aura mastery.... before you know it, you easily (compared to other characters) reach 90% all res. Then build up your life pool (get +life on items) and take passive tree nodes with % increase life. Last edited by Proton_DK#2822 on Jul 24, 2025, 5:19:18 PM
