LF Occultist or Witch build (Novice player seeking guidance)

Hello, I'm a casual and don't really plan to play well into the end game. I'll probably fool around for a week or two until the new PoE 2 league but wanted to have some fun in PoE 1.

I'm pretty casual and usually just play through the campaign. I wanted to try an Occultist preferably but am open to Witch builds in general. I like using spells with either cold, chaos, or any elemental theme tbh but bows are cool too. I was unable to find any beginner friendly builds on youtube as those were all just endgame build videos.

Could some tell me some builds for someone like me pls? Thanks! ^^

you can try Death's Oath Build if u want an Autobomber chaos occultist but i dont see enough beginner guides for it. There is also an exiles cat video zero to hero Death's Oath but its not a build guide sadly. it only serves as a baseline.

Hi mate!

If you plan to just try the campaign without enjoying the endgame, occultist offer few possibilities but one of those can be a cheap but decent option.

The occultist's main nodes of specialisation are chaos damage, cold damage and energy shield.I wouldn't recommend going for an energy shield build at all, as this option is reserved for builds that have reached a certain level in the endgame and have good enough stuff to be able to handle all the counter-parts associated with energy shield builds.

For damage, I'd recommend going for an elemental cold build with Freezing pulse self cast + Ice spear connected to Spell totem to help you DPS bosses.

Freezing Pulse damage is linear throughout the campaign and Ice Spear is one of the most powerful single-target skills in the game. You got many cold damge node at the start of the witch tree to help you sustain the damage needed to go to the end of the campaign. It'll be reachable easily with freezing pulse and ice spear totem.

I'll soon be playing this type of build in an endgame version, you can check out my characters on my POE profile (character name: Lopititopol) if you need inspiration for your stuff / the gems to use / your passive tree.
