How do I turn pause off?

Why is my game being forced to pause. I played this for years and it never paused and now it is.

If I want to pause my game then there should be a specific pause button. Not just randomly pause because I open my mercs inventory or my passive tree. If I open my passive tree in the middle of a map it's because I am waiting for something stupid like Sirus to stop fucking talking or for these blight monsters to hurry the fuck up. Why would I pause the game?


Also... If I hit ESC it pauses the game, but when I click options it unpauses? The one fucking place I would want to pause mid map is if I am in the options.

Well, you can't pause on Sirus, so it seems you don't know what you're talking about.

I do agree about the option menu. Why the hell would everything else pause except the options menu?

Yep I'm in agreement about the options menu, not sure why it would un-pause.

I also think it would be useful to be able to use in-game chat while paused. Maybe there is technical reasons why it is not possible, but I don't see it effecting the game and think it would be good.

Overall, I think it has been a good addition, but there could be further improvement. Some people are saying they are having problems with the automatic pausing. Seems like something that would benefit from being optional.
